What about a little women's Satellite OR ROUNDTABLE at UNIFEM or UNFPA - day of/Day Before Donor's Conf in NY?
Hi all,
I'm preparing an agenda for tomorrow's call - please respond HERE on our GROUP discussion forum any AGENDA items you have.
ONE IDEA:
Given that so many people and multisector players will be in NY on March 31 for Donor's meeting, it's ideal time to channel attention and network with women/other leaders around the issue of accelerating response to women.
I PROPOSE we have a LAUNCH and DISCUSSION PANEL/ maybe luncheon time - THE DAY OF the Donor's Meeting (or a BREAKFAST) that will allow attendees to SIGN UP/ BE INFORMED of our effort. This could be a time to discuss our goal of a Women's Summit at a future point- maybe in Santo Domingo as a Satellite meeting April 14?
We could ASK Unifem, or UNFPA or FORD to help us host a brownbag breakfast or roundtable luncheon.
I'm coming to the meeting and can organize - with those of you available. It's also an opportunity for US to meet in person - to have a work session.
Que pensez vous?
We could have our announcement available there, and some background materials, and maybe by then, some provisional WEB presence even. We could provide a fundraising document for the Summit, even if we can work together that quickly.
On my end I will have a first decent issue of my newsletter ready. We should discuss if I can incorporate this as the Poto Mitan | Rebuilding Haiti newsletter, or as Haiti Vox Bulletin. I would be honored to edit a newsletter for this initiative, with the caveat that I want to cover a broad range of issues from a feminist perspective (about many aspects of the Rebuilding Haiti effort) - but I'd love to do this by opening up the platform for all of us to share visions, and to bring in OF COURSE and most importantly, Haitian women and grassroots voices on the ground in Haiti.
Comments please. (Are you all out there?) :)

Agenda Tomorrow
Hello AC and All,
Thanks much for thinking abt the agenda and also for the statement for the CSW, which I hope has been mailed to Sophie already for distribution? Or that we will decide that tomorrow, because the meeting is on now.
I like the luncheon/discussion idea for the donor meeting, with one main goal to discuss a summit to focus on women and girls (again, linked to the larger rebuilding process, with mixed groups and communities).
On the agenda, a few things:
1) the CSW statement: approval and immediate release so Sophie can distribute it.
2) March 31 activity: what will that entail?
3) March 8 activity (for International Women's Day): do we want to do anything for that day?
4) Continuing outreach: reports abt who has been contacted, new members on board, who else to contact.
5) Any new logo thoughts and/or designs
6) Possible emergency preps for rainy season: what can we do, if anything, to be helpful?
Look forward to talking! Janet
re: newsletter
I like the idea of the newsletter being for this effort and that we can all contribute, including getting contribs from people in Haiti. martha
