It was so disturbing to watch new on KTN at 9 O'clock on Mon 25th January 2010.
A girl had been repeatedly defiled by her headteacher who is supposed to be her caretaker, role model and career developer while still as young as she was. To make matters worse this girl is living with her grandma who is too old to follow up this bizzare case., morover she has been expelled from school by the same errand headteacher who is being protected by education officiials in the same area.
As young girls, who are we going to turn to for help in such circumstances. Can someone get up and be counted.
Women at worldpulse I hope you can't allow such things to happen in this century and go unpunished.
God Bless.

The girl child

Hi Teckler,

Thank you for sharing this devastating story and bringing our attention to the girl child. You're right - we must work together to protect the girl child so that this kind of abuse stops.

I'd like to introduce you to some members who I think you will find to be good resources:

Girl Child Network
They set up a trust fund to be able to give girls living a hard life small grants to finish school, move out of forced sex work and/or start small projects to support themselves

She's a young Kenyan woman who, like you, likes helping girls to continue with their education and fighting for their rights.

Shiku Steve

I also encourage you to join the group, Girl Revolution. This is a space for girls around the world join hands and be heard.

We are so happy you've found our community and shared your voice and I hope that you continue to write about the issues girls face in your community. We are here to support you, learn from you and grow together in the empowerment process!

Action Being Taken

Am glad to hear that the said teacher who defiled that young and who happened to have defiled ten others was finally interdicted. I hope tougher measures are going to be put in place to curb this vice. One wonders how the other girls girls whose cases went unreported are coping with this trauma.I was perturbed by the comments of one lady by the name of wangari who happens to be an education official in Makueni district where this incident happened by trying to downplay the seriousness of this matter matter. My humble advice to her is to be firm since it might one day happen right at her door steps.
