Facilitating Somali Refugee Women's Self-Help
Check out our newest people-centered development project right here in Massachusetts (usually we work with coffee farming communities around the world). We co-created this incredible project with Walaalo Sisters Project, an organization of Somali refugee women. We supplied four industrial sewing machines, a designer and all the burlap coffee bags the women could handle. They are making incredible reusable grocery totes out of the bags, which feature the logos or names of the coffee cooperatives we work with in different countries from Timor to Nicaragua. We sell the bags for the group and 100% of the proceeds go to the women. This has been a powerful and personally meaningful project for all involved. www.deansbeans.com

From beans to bags.
Wow! What an inspiring story - and an incredible way to integrate refugee women in your own local community with your international work in fair trade coffee. Thanks for sharing!
I hope that you will continue to share your work and experiences with us here on PulseWire.
Happy New Year!
Warm regards,
