non-profits SE Asia

Hi!

What kind of non-profits are you looking to get in contact with? Education? Community Devt? Health? I worked in Cambodia last year and have some contacts there. I could recommend some great organizations to contact. Are you looking to do specific work in these countries? I've been to all these countries, and there is amazing things going on in all of these countries.
Also, you should check out www.idealist.org if you are looking for short term volunteerships or neat projects going on around the world.
One of our members, Daniela Papi ,http://www.worldpulse.com/user/1338 does great work in Cambodia. I would encourage you to contact her, and see if she could connect you with some community work in Cambodia.
I'm so excited for you. I love SE Asia, it's an exquisite part of the world. The people are warm and kind, the food is so delicious, and there is so much going on there-historically, politically, socially.
What will you be doing there? Please feel free to contact me if I can help out more!

Best,
Jody

hi Jody!

Jody,

I'm so sorry it has taken me so long to reply. I have been so busy preparing for my trip that I haven't been on World Pulse for a long time. I really appreciate your letter and offer to help!

I would like to partner with organizations that are helping women in any capacity. Health, education, vocational training, helping women get out of the sex trade, nutrition, micro-finance, etc. Ideally I would like to find partners in a variety of areas so I can educate The Global Kitchen community in the developing world about the issues.

I am looking for NGOs in the following areas: Hanoi, HoiAn, Saigon, Siem Reap, Chiang Mai (or in the refugee camps), and Luang Prabang. Do you know anyone I can contact there?

Thanks again!

Wendy

Connections

Hi Wendy,
I thought you might like to connect with Liz who just returned from Cambodia interviewing survivors of the Khmer Rouge. You can read her post at:

http://www.worldpulse.com/node/16115

You might also like to connect with Reaksmey Arun, the Executive Director of Mekea Strey, a non-profit NGO based in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. Mekea Strey, foundered by human rights advocate Mu Sochua, works with women on the grassroots level to access basic services and to identify and remedy pressing issues related to development and the empowerment of women.

All the best with your trip and please keep us posted on how it goes. Best wishes,
