My rally cry.

I am feeling really anxious and burnt out today. There are so many messed up things happening in the world and we need to change it. The time is now. And it is crucial.

Women's autonomy and the self-sufficiency of child-bearing women is at risk with the introduction of the Stupak amendment to the House health reform bill (HR 3962).

One in four women are being raped. And this is a very, very low estimate, being that the majority of rapes go unreported.

Three women are being killed a day in the U.S. by a current or former partner.
(And most likely this number is very low as well, due to substantial changes and inaccuracies in news reporting.)

15.5 million children are exposed to domestic violence a year, thus creating a model of unhealthy relationships and cycles of abuse.

The U.S. is consuming genetically modified, subsidized, and un-nutritious food at alarming rates and quantities with no consideration to our health, rights of workers/farmers, animals and mother Earth, while the majority of the world is starving. (http://www.foodincmovie.com/about-the-issues.php)

This is seriously messed up.

And what are people doing about it besides pushing the information aside and hiding from the cold truth? Masking it with their pastimes of drinking, partying, watching t.v. Which are all things I like to do, don't get me wrong, but they should be a break. Just that. A past time. Not taking up all your non-work time each and every day.

We all have the ability to change the reality of our world but no one does it. Do you realize how much time and energy very few people give to make your world a better place? What are you going to do about it? We are all accountable for our world and the future generations of our world. We all need to do more.

"Don’t say you don’t have enough time. You have exactly the same number of hours per day that were given to Helen Keller, Louis Pasteur, Michelangelo, Mother Teresa, Leonardo da Vinci, Thomas Jefferson and Albert Einstein." -H. Jackson Brown, Jr.

So let's start now. Create your own rally cry. Something to motivate you, and hopefully others. There is no better time than now.
