HEARTLAND

Land is my birthing ground, the garden from which I grow .
It is my nurturer, my nourishment, the breast from which I suckle.
Gently supporting me, it is the solidity beneath my feet.
Land is the source from which I feast, the ground on which I build my shelter.
A doorway to the natural world of beauty and spirit, land beckons me to listen to its wisdom.
Land is the carrier of life, the recycler, the restorer.
It is a weaving of life, giving and sharing

…….If one sits with, listens, feels and trusts in the land, then the world opens up and nature provides us with all we need. If one knows and respects the land, then balance is in place and there is always plenty. When one knows the songs of the land, then one moves with the rhythm of life…. then ONE IS.

In the past 8 years life has taken me to the desert of central Australia where I have been fortunate to share with and learn from our indigenous sisters and brothers of this great land.

I have been deeply touched by the warmth and open heartedness of these people and the serene beauty of this arid desert scape. The colours, textures and scents have been etched into my memory as I have embodied the richness and the heart of both land and culture.

Having sat and listened and learned from these people, feeling and witnessing their spiritual wisdom and connectedness to the land, I now view land and life through new eyes, seeing and feeling the interconnectedness of all in life with clearer insight and an open heart. I recognise land is a part of that motion within me which unifies and defines the elements through this stream of movement called life.

So poetic

Cat, what beautiful imagery you paint of your land. I would love to hear more about your work with the Aborigines and learn about the ways they connect with the Land. Their spirits are so interwoven with the Land and they have a way of listening to the Land in ways that are foreign to us. You are indeed fortunate to have learned from them the power of the land and how it speaks to us. I hope you will share more about the insight you gained and the Land you call home.

Sitting with land

Cat,
I loved the introduction of what land is to you and then to read on of how you have been learning from a wise people....Very rich! I especially liked the "sitting with the land" because it seems that we have lost our patience to do that. Thank you for giving us a glimpse of where you are!

sitting with land

thankyou Mwierenga for your comment,
you know I agree with you.. .. many have forgotton what it's like to stop, feel and sit with the land, our heads are to full of things we think we have to do. If we just took the time to breath and be still, feeling that support beneath us, we would recognize what is real and what is not necessary. The land has such a beautiful ability to communicate with us when we have a willingness to listen. We can use it as a filter to clear out our mind of the unnecessaries which we tend to let consume us.
One of it jobs is to earth us, to ground us.....and how many of us are looking for this elsewhere when it's right under our feet........how beautiful is that and how lucky are we.
go well my sista
lovely to share with you
