TOMORROW'S LEADERS IN ASIAN UNIVERSITY FOR WOMEN

There is a popular saying that if you teach a man, you only teach a man, but if you teach a woman, you teach a nation. Asian University for Women has taken the responsibility of playing an eminent role of illuminating women in order to empower themselves. It is the first regional institute of liberal arts in south Asia, which aims to educate women through robusting leadership qualities.
Women of diverse cultural and social backgrounds across south and south East Asia are gathered here with a notion that women are also capable of being leaders of their society. Prior to entering into the undergraduate programs of this university, students are required to go under a pre university course that is fundamentally a diploma in English in order to prepare them according to international standard. Here women are being prepared to be motivated with leadership skills. The curriculum of this university is jointly made up of London Imperial College, London and Alberg University, Denmark. The core course of this institute is liberal arts. To gain professional skill, there is a facility of internship both in country and abroad. Already students have gone to Dubai, Doha, China, Canada and Japan to attend international conferences and do summer internship. This university is unique in its cultural diversity. Right now there are 300 students from Bangladesh, India, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bhutan, Vietnam, Cambodia, Pakistan, Myanmar, Afghanistan, China, USA and Palestine. As a student of this university, I really feel proud myself because I have learnt that women are not supposed to be discriminated. It is our society that discriminates against us. We, the women, need to wake up for our rights. Asian University for Women has taught me to say “We are the leaders, we are the future.”

Fahmida, We have so many

Fahmida,

We have so many wonderful members on PulseWire from this university—and what a joy it is to have you on board as well! What a powerful place to foster the talent, strength, and dreams of young women throughout the regions you listed.

I'm very interested in learning about your personal journey to find your way to this university. Were your parents supportive of you attending? How did you find out about it, and what are your hopes and dreams for your life after you complete your education?

I hope other universities and programs can learn from the amazing model of the Asian University for Women, so that women everywhere can benefit!

All the best,
Corine

Many fellow students

Fahmida,
What a delight it is to welcome you as a member. As Cori mentioned, we have many of our fellow students on PulseWire and I have included their profiles below so that you may connect with them. Maybe you could start your own group where you could discuss the concerns you have and the issues that face young women today. I wish you all the very best at AUW and know that you will enjoy your experience there.

Keep us posted on student life in Chittagong and encourage all your friends to join. Best wishes,
Janice
