A Follow-up to My Announcement
Dearest Chicks,
Thank you for your outpouring of support and love. I am making a second post to ensure everyone sees my response to a few themes I saw emerging.
First, I am not leaving you or PulseWire. PulseWire is a social networking site and I am excited that I will again have time to spend on the site, discussing important topics with you, and meeting women from around the world. (Plus, Corine made me promise to blog regularly about my project in Nairobi!)
Second, I am always available by Skype and email. I'll email you my personal email. You can also send me a private message on PulseWire!
Third, we agree with Dr Edonna. It is essential that Voices of Our Future continue to be directed by a woman. World Pulse will be hiring a new Program Director in 2010 to replace me and "she" will in fact be a woman. In the meantime, Scott will be our anchor, ensuring program continuity.
For most of the past year, Scott generously volunteered his time to support our work together. He was part of the original team (me, Elsie and Scott), who created the structure for Voices of Future from just a loose idea. From there, he set up all the back-end systems and has provided endless support to all of us. It was not until recently that we made Scott's role with World Pulse more official and brought him on as a program coordinator.
My intention is not to go on the defensive, but to share why I feel confident in Scott's ability to provide program continuity in a way that is feminine, empowering, and authentic. And, I also do want to talk anyone into feeling something that is not authentic for them. My personal experience with Scott is that he is an incredible ally, supporter, and contributor - they kind of man we would all be blessed to have in our lives.
I hope this clarifies anything that felt confusing or unsettling. I love each and everyone of you and would be devastated to not have you in my life anymore.
Hugs and kisses,
Jennifer

We won't leave you. We won't
We won't leave you. We won't let u forget us, we will keep in touch. I don't have a problem with Scott but I understand Dr Edonna's point as well.
Lots of love for our mother Hen. I miss you.
PS: you know I was missing you already. I mean before the announcement. I was smelling some distance. I attributed it to your busy schedule and Jonah.
Anyways, Love u lot.I know you will rock there( Press Institute) as well.

Jennifer, am
glad you are not leaving us for good. To us you are like a mother to lean on and am glad we will still be in touch with you all the way. I equally don't have a problem with scott and its amazing to have men as our patners. I believe having men on our side to fight the gender inequality and the liberty of women is a great idea.
welcome to the Africa and enjoy your stay.
with Love
Dando.
I'm thrilled for you
Dear Jennifer,
I'm excited for you. This new adventure sounds promising and challenging. I know you will do well. I look forward to ongoing correspondence with you, updates and sharing. Scott has been an incredible asset to the program and I'm deeply grateful that he will be the link that bridges your efforts with the next program coordinator.
Many blessings and good wishes.
Love,
Helen

Dearest Jennifer,
You shared with us the best ideas and you made us realize that "nothing is impossible, impossible is nothing".
Thank you for keeping us in your mind. And please keep us updated with life in Nairobi. I miss that place so much tha I feel some stories would bring the good spirit from there to here. What is the project you will be working on?
Good luck!
