Introducing myself and my journal: The Original You

About Me:
I am an author, journalist, speaker, consultant and depth psychologist who loves the potential for social entrepreneurship and honoring our early seeds of legacy
to transform us from a me-to-a-we way of being and working in the world. I aspire to be an honorable global citizen; I hold dual citizenship with Ireland and have done graduate work abroad. I enjoy books about leadership, business, spirituality, psychology and travel. In my career, I have worked as an editor, freelance journalist, video/film producer, publicist, media consultant and project manager for an international NGO. I play the cello and the piano and will cook you a meal anytime. My first book is "She's All Eyes" published by TimeWarner which has been adapted for stage. (I hope it comes to your town or country!) It's a family drama and a story of love about how we as girls and women find our voice in the world. I have lived all over the USA and now call Portland, OR and New York my homes. I grew up with a brother who has Down syndrome and he has been my little Buddha all along.

My Passions:
Seeing people reach their potential; hearing silence transform into song

My Challenges:
Time to do everything on the plate!

My Vision for the Future:
No walls just songs between us. For each women and girl to know her voice in the world

My Areas of Expertise:
Please see above

Yesterday was the busiest travel day in the United States with airports filled with eager faces and suitcases and the highways chockablock with automobiles. Why? Because today (Thanksgiving) is the day we gather with family and loved ones across the miles.

Much focus is put on the cuisine which always includes the veritable turkey. Every family has their own tradition of cooking the bird. Some roast it; some barbeque it; some deep fry it and on and on. I love hearing about the specific dishes people cook up for the holiday. I particularly love yams baked with walnuts, dried cranberries and cherries, and a little bit of pineapple for sweetening. It's a vegetable dish which for me covers as a dessert!

We usually get outside for a bit and toss around a football or shoot some baskets -- a good tradition coming from where I grew up near sunny Los Angeles, California. In any event, we usually have a fine toast at the dinner table and end the day being quite full!

Just a wee note of sharing on the day where we all come together to give thanks for the cornucopia of goodness that is in our lives.
