The condom is the glass slipper of our generation

2083267940_26dc905f31.jpg

From the perspective look at it, either from the layman and common sense, of pragmatism, as well as from academic abstraction, either from the movies or politics, through rich and poor, alternate realities, our world presented as a conflict, as a spate of social indifference, homogeneity and difference, subordination and domination, of which none of us are exempt.

While generally the social process, its intersubjectivity, and his strenuous majorities have been characterized by the reducibility of "themselves", machismo has permeated social awareness through the imposition and homogenization of values, lifestyles and needs created all others, in which a majority also exhausted, have tried to withstand the test of collective influence.

Sexism is presented as a photograph of a sociopath, of our modern societies flawed, characterized by a paradoxical logic, where we are driven and motivated by a double standard, where the laws proclaim equality, but the system each day deepens inequalities, where religions promote brotherhood but exclude the recognition of women and their autonomy over whether, where the media business in each program or refer to love, yet we sell women as sexual fetish object, making each more and more promiscuous.

The woman and her body acting as the epicenter of the morale of the fun of a society characterized by being a culture of risk, "where the propaganda becomes habits, stimulates desire and creates aesthetic and ethical behavior patterns" (Daniel Bell) women, turned into an object of consumption and consumerism.

Femininity, women and their status "and not determined by economistic and occupational but aestheticism, tastes and lifestyles" (Daniel Bell) condition their place in society for the effective and efficient matching it to patterns of subjection, subordination, sexual exploitation and aesthetics imposed by the prevailing societal model.

A society in which we are constantly bombarded by the "need" for completion and complementarity with the other permanent stimulated the search to overcome the initial state of separatibilidad that scares us so much, only possible through "love" the ideal man, renunciation and surrender of themselves, no longer embodied in the glass slipper idealized past, but through the latex and the female body, now loving the transaction instruments of our generation.

Oh my brain!

Dear Esther,

My brain is kind of small to understand such an intricate expression. But, if I am not mistaken, your point is that the condom is today what love was to life long ago, before feminism.

Anyway, your article is interesting. Consumerism, though, needs to be redefined to shown the true basic meaning of it. Many times we tend to think Consumerism is just the act of buying stuff we don't need, when it actually is the best expression of modern self pleasing life style. Just think about it. Consumerists buy, financially and not financially, anything that pleases their lust. Some buy products, some buy 'love', in one word, they buy anything pleasing their senses.

But no one wants to say that outloud. It is not convinient. It is much more comforrtable to create the ghosts of poverty, hunger, raping, violence, etc., that everyone 'fights' against. To admit that the plot begins with self pleasing attitudes and lifestyles, is way too hard, impossible indeed.

Let's change that beginning with ourselves. This is the only way we will get to change consumerism into meaningful lifestyles.

Love,

Jackie
