Welcome to PulseWire! We are thrilled to have you in our community of women who are lifting their voices in the name of empowerment and connecting across borders to make positive change for women everywhere!

I am so encouraged by the work that your organization does in Kenya. Supporting teenage mothers and their children is an incredible project and I applaud your work. I encourage you to utilize your journal here on PulseWire to share with our community the work that you're doing. Women leaders

I feel very passionate about helping these teen mums. The reason being that they did not choose to be in the situation they are in.Some are as young as 13years.What would a thirteen year old kid do if confronted by a pregnancy when in school? Then a child is born. Then the environment is the slum. What next for her and her child? Is any one listening to us?These young mothers are happy to be back to school and they have said that they will not get pregnant again until they are through with education. This gives me the drive and energy to tell others about them .There are many more out there but they have not come out openly since they are stigmatized. The community is not happy with them as they are a bad influence to the others. This makes the poor girl hide in her mothers house or stay with a 'boy friend' whom she takes as a husband. Most of these so called are guns and criminals. This leaves the poor girls with her child with worse exposures eg on HIV/AIDS,being a gun too, desparate and having many more children at her tender age.

It is the high time we as a society come out to rescure these young teenage mothers.

UPDATES

Thank you Jody.
This weekend I am visiting Westerm part of Kenya to measure school uniforms to some 70 needy children from an identified area. Some well wishers have agreed to be buying the school uniforms made from our training centre and be giving to needy children in the Western part of the Country Kisumu in Nyando district.
The reason for my visit is to do measurement to those kids who are up to 10 years and send the uniforms to them so that they can continue schooling.Education is free in Kenyan Primary schools but children who are poor cannot attend school if they have no uniforms.
The money received will buy materials to make the uniforms for project sustainability and some will be used to for the teenage mothers livelihoods and their babies.
I will keep you all posted about this visit.
