Assignment Evaluation Process
Hello Dear Correspondents,
I hope you are all doing well today! I'm so impressed by the work you've been doing...it's truly a joy to witness such powerful expression. I'm writing today to offer a little insight into the evaluation process that we're using for your VOF assignments. As you submit your writing on Pulse Wire, you may be wondering, "How will the final awards be chosen?!" Hopefully this message will make some sense of that process.
For each assignment you post, we have a different evaluator read the story and then fill out an evaluation form. The form is broken into four questions that focus on the World Pulse editorial voice:
Inspiration:
Writing feels INSPIRED *
Does the author show she was inspired and moved by a particular person, event, or instance? Do you feel a sense of inspiration as you read?
Solutions-Oriented:
Writing feels directed toward a SOLUTION. *
To what extent does the piece leave you feeling moved to action? Is the piece solutions oriented?
Connection:
Writing builds a CONNECTION. *
As a reader, to what extent do you feel a personal, heart and soul connection with the author?
Overall:
How do you feel about the assignment OVERALL? *
Take a step back, and rank the assignment overall. How do you feel about the work?
Each question is given a rating from 1 to 5, and the total score is tallied. We also provide room for written comments from the evaluators, to allow more feedback for you and give a fuller picture to the score they gave. We are working on getting this written feedback to you soon! The scores and comments for all four assignments will be compiled and help inform the awarding process. The final award selection will be done by a small team of global change-makers who are seeking the best representatives of the VOF group, those who are most willing and able to shake the world with their voice and actions!
Everybody who submits all four assignments will receive a Certificate of Completion from World Pulse. Late assignments will still count toward completing the course, but, out of fairness to everyone, may limit the opportunity to be selected for awards. As we head into the last month's assignment, a Feature Story, be sure to give it your best effort! We will be counting this last assignment with more weight, because it is a chance to showcase everything you've learned along this journey. Dive deep into your research process and enlist the help of your Mentor and Midwives for editing your drafts. We are all so proud of the work you've done so far. I can't wait to read these next articles, and see the ripples of hope and change spread from your voices around the world.
If you have any questions or comments on the Evaluation process, or anything about the VOF program, please don't hesitate to send me or Jennifer a message. We're here for you! Thank you again for all of your hard work...you're amazing women!
Blessings,
Scott
