Introducing myself and my journal: Achilles Effect

About Me:
I am a freelance writer running a blog and writing my first book. The object of both is to show parents of young boys how to identify and combat negative portrayals of males and females in pop culture, and help their children move into adolescence with a healthy and balanced view of gender.

The image I use here and on my blog is "Sexual Equality" by Willeecole from Dreamstime.

Thanks so much!

Thanks for your wonderful welcome message. I read your profile. What an amazing career you have had. I have just begun exploring PulseWire, but I am really excited about what I have seen.

I volunteer with a women's centre, and I plan to pass on the link to PulseWire. There are some truly amazing women at this centre, and some truly inspirational stories that I think should be shared.

Working on my book and parenting two children, I may find it tough to keep in touch here, but I will do so as much as possible.

That sounds like a good goal.

That sounds like a good goal. After all, healthy mindset is best introduced while they are young, showing this isn't the only way they can be.
Welcome to Pulse Wire. I am sure you'll like what you read here, and I'm sure people here will appreciate your comments on their posts!
Have a fine time writing!

Thank you.

Thanks for your welcome message. I am still figuring out how this site works, but I'll get there.

I love what you said about introducing a healthy mindset at a young age. That is really important.

I plan to keep in touch with this site as much as possible.

Hi,

Thanks so much for your welcome. I love the quotes you included.

The book will be a while in coming, but I will certainly shout it from the rooftops when it is done.

Very cool.

I really admire your vision! I think raising boys to see gender equality is so very important. I look forward to reading more about your work/views!

I cheked out your blog too, and plan to check back!

Thank You

Hello Sharese,

Thanks for your comments.

I'm always encouraged when I hear positive feedback from others.

I really believe, as do many others, that we need men to be part of the solution on gender equality, but by the time they are adults many lack the tools to identify the myriad forms of discrimination out there. If we can teach them from a young age to understand gender bias, they will be better equipped to combat it and make life better for women and, by extension, everyone else.

I would like to write more, but I have a real job that takes up a lot of my time :) I will hopefully have some new posts soon.

I checked out your blog. I love your message about empowering youth. You are so right. And boosting self-esteem is one sure way to do it. I look forward to reading more about your work on your blog!

Thanks again.
