Just a quick Hi

Dear all

You all must have noticed that i have been away from this great community for quite sometime now. I am hell busy with my final exam's, i will be on and off for a month now. A week before, the research centre that i am heading called Center for Research Excellence had organized a program called Industry-Academia Dialogue: Bridging the Skills Gap under my coordination. We had 3 sessions in the program: Banking and Finance, Manufacturing and Trade, and Information Technology. These areas were chosen because of their popularity among graduates and their prospects of growth in the future. We had altogether 9 presentations, 3 in each session. Representatives from Industry as well as academia made their presentations and gave their viewpoint on the issue. The participation was great as well. We had around 100 participants in the program, both from industry and academia, though the number of industry representatives were few.

A local newspaper had posted a small coverage of the program. I am posting the link of the online version. Please have a look:

We are now in the process of extracting the most useful issues raised in the discussion. I am working with my rapporteurs for the same, and we hope to come up with the results soon. I will share them with once we are done.

Regarding my assignment, i am still struggling to identify the issue. Can someone help me?

All the best to you guys for the second month assignment..

Hi Khushbu, From what I've

Hi Khushbu,

From what I've understood, we're supposed to pick out an issue that is important, relevant and has an impact on our lives and communities at large - whether directly or indirectly. This could be anything which has a socially relevant dimension to it. You write and report for VENT. So, why don't you think of an issue which is of significance to the youth in Nepal (maybe with an angle that focuses more on young women)?

Thank you

Hi Tanya

Thank you for all the great suggestions...i think you are right...i am kind of identifying my angle now...i think i will be writing on the life of a youth in Nepal, especially young it feels to be living the way we are....i will be more descriptive and post it soon...

Thanks for showing me the right direction

Hi Hi Hi

Dear Khushbu,

Flipping back and forth from your Profile to the Month 2 Assignment, I already see the framework alive for your Frontline Journal, "a first-person account from those living on the frontlines of breaking news stories." Your challenges and problems, your connections and perspectives, your conversations and actions to find solutions -- You live this assignment -- It's only a matter of crafting the words.

As Tanya wisely suggested, your work with VENT/youth issues and with VAWIP/women's issues can either or both provide great fodder. Looking at the sample questions on the assignment page, what resonates with you?

Please keep us posted - We are here for you.

With heart,
