Introducing myself and my journal: Giving Back - Cambodia

About Me:
I'm an international travel photographer (among other things) and I have a particular love for Cambodia... very similar to Andy, who lives in Cambodia. I came across the landfill in Phnom Penh and have made several trips there with supplies for the women and children living and working there. There are photos of the landfill on some of my websites as well - check the Giving Back section. BongMao is a nickname I got... supposed to mean Mr.Brown... but very similar to the Thai word for 'drunk'... so I wonder sometimes if I'm being called Mr. Drunken guy... lol. My friend is called, Bong Weng - Mr. Long as he is quite tall and has long hair - which turns a lot of heads in Cambodia.

My Passions:
All things Khmer

My Challenges:
How to make a real difference

My Areas of Expertise:
Photography / Web

Welcome Mr. Drunken Guy

Bongmao, what a delight to meet you. We are thrilled to have you as a member of PulseWire and I love your work. For those interested in viewing Conrad's images, please go to:

I imagine your name came about from the flushed feeling the locals get from all your kindness and generosity. We held our World Pulse Inaugural Tour in February where the group visited innovative women-led programs and experienced the country’s lush sights and flavors under the guidance of Loung Ung, visionary author of "First They Killed My Father" and "Lucky Child", anti-landmines activist, and survivor of the Cambodian killing fields. One of the most emotional experiences was visiting a school built for children living in and off of the garbage heaps of Phnom Penh.

I invite you to join our Journey to the Heart of Cambodia group to share ideas, inspiration, or pose questions about Cambodia. It can be found at:

You might also be interested in the World Pulse feature article by renowned lawyer, activist, and survivor of the killing fields, Theary Seng, as she describes the healing of her nation and its people. The article, "Ushering In Cambodia’s Peace" can be found at:

If there is anything I can help you with or if you have any particular interests, please let me know and I will try to steer you in the right direction. Again, welcome.
