Will pass along

I will be online later today and a bit next week as a volunteer at Pulsewire and will pass along this information to interested members. As I read through the info on the Kashmir Corps website, I saw it said that 2009 summer applications are closed, so it's applications for 2010? Want to make sure I pass along correct info. Have you been a participant in the program? I wonder if you can pass along some personal, anecdotal stories which can always captivate.

Thanks for the information on Kashir Corps which looks very interesting.

Hi Laura, Yes, the

Hi Laura,

Yes, the applications for 2009 are closed. They tend to start taking in applications around the beginning of every year and select by around March but one can get in touch with them right now as well and help out. How? Well, Im not quite sure because I've not been following the activities but Im sure one can.

Also, yes I had applied for a summer internship with them in 2006 and gotten selected to work with Action Aid. I was meant to go but had to unfortunately cancel out during the last days because my father's work commitments (my mom wanted him to atleast go there with me for a week considering the security situation, which btw was supposedly at its best in several years). *Sigh* still a regret but hopefully someday, somehow I will InshaAllah visit and work in Kashmir. However, I befriended one of the girls, who spoke very highly of the people, their hospitality, the beauty of the valley, the wonderful culture and the extremely rewarding experience she had as an intern. She and her sister worked for HELP and Chinar. Im not sure who worked for what orgnization but all of them come highly recommended as I mentioned above.

Hope this helps.

Warm Regards,

Tanya Daud
