Adult education program in Ilesi, Kenya
In April me and my friend Katrin visited Project Africa in Kakamega, Kenya. Some of the women I met, are also a part of the Rafiki Club. It was a very moving visit. Some women seemed very shy and vulnerable, others were really strong. But they all seemed so incredibly motivated to learn. I was invited to attend an adult education english lesson. Dozens of women were sitting in a tiny room and concentrated listening to the teacher. After the lesson they asked us many question about our life in Germany.
It was a valuable experience to be there. I felt so very welcome in Ilesi and I´d love to share with you some of the positive vibrations that I felt there. I know now that it´s so easy to support women there. It already gives them so much strengh to know that there are people on the other side of the world who care about them and who appreciate their daily struggle for education and a better life. Taking part in the Rafiki Club you can experience it yourself.
Take care

Incredible experience
Thank you for sharing with us your incredible experience visiting Project Africa endeavors in Kenya. The pictures are beautiful and help me to envision my own Rafiki friends when writing to them in Lunga Lunga and Kakamega.
For those reading this journal whom are not familiar with the Rafiki Club and Project Africa, please use the following links and consider joining the Rafiki Club today - it's an amazing way to connect with women in rural Kenya who are empowering themselves through literacy to lift themselves and their families out of poverty. I am a member of the Rafiki Club and really enjoy writing to and receiving handwritten letters from my penpals in Kenya.
