Introducing myself and my journal: Zonta Club of Tualatin Valley

About Me:
Hello Pulsewire community! I'm pres. of Zonta Club of Tualatin Valley in Hillsboro Oregon. Zonta is an international service organization dedicated to advancing the status of women worldwide. We work on projects locally to help girls and women in our community, and work together with Zonta International Foundation (mostly with fundraisers for the international projects) to improve the lives of women globally. In June, we're having a bake sale/garage sale to benefit local hunger (after school and summer lunch programs) and raise funds for our club. In July, we're having our Charter Dinner! Also, partnering with Nike's summer reading program. We're excited about an opportunity for ongoing service that we just learned about to partner with Transitions Global for anti-trafficking work in our local area. This has the potential to be our ongoing local focus fo rservice and fund-raising. I'll keep you posted on how it's going!

My Passions:

My Challenges:

My Vision for the Future:
Health and joy.

Cheri, it's wonderful to have a fellow Oregonian join PulseWire. Thank you for sharing with us the work that the Zonta Club engages in and I look forward to reading more about your activities and projects. We have two members instrumental in trying to change state legislation to protect victims of organized crime and trafficking whom you might be interested in connecting with. Along with Transitions Global, they contributed to a Sex Trafficking Conference held recently in Portland.

Kathleen Maloney-Dunn is a Human Rights Attorney who has been working on trying to change Oregon's laws on trafficking to bring them up to other states', federal, and international standards. She can be found at:

Jennifer Parsons is a freelance photographer, helping to bring awareness to Transitions Global and their sex trafficking efforts in Cambodia, India and the U.S. Jennifer can be found at:

If there is anything I can help you with or if you have any particular interests, please let me know and I will try to steer you in the right direction. Again, welcome.

A warm welcome to the vibrant Pulsewire community. The Zonta Club will have many opportunities to partner with likeminded members through Pulsewire through talking to members online and posting to your journal informing us about updates.

Have you heard of the Tronie Foundation, an organization based in Seattle with the mission to provide worldwide restoration of human trafficking victims accomplished through education, community mobilization, policy reform, shelter, and services.

On their site, is also a very powerful video about human trafficking.

I hope to see you here online soon!
