Visiting my Rafikis

Tags:

Hello

I would like to say that I have 4 Rafikis now and my mother has one also.
I was really excited when the letters first started coming in and I had a chance/opportunity to communicate with ladies from Kenya.
Now that I am receiving my second letters I am so moved that they bring tears to my eyes at the shear innocence, love and friendship that they offer.
They help me see the simplicity in life and that love truly is what makes the world go around. They probably suffer some of the hardest times and yet they still have love to share and have an eagerness that is so refreshing.
I am hoping to visit my Rafikis very soon. I would like any help I can get in the logistics of it all by Mama Rafiki if I can or anyone else that can help me. I am coming from Australia. I will research it myself of course. Is there any other members of the Rafiki club wishing to go over to Kenya? I believe I read that a group is being organised to go over.
One of my beautiful young Rafikis has expressed her frustration at the length of time that she has to wait for my mail (about a month). She said that she would love to sit under a tree with me and be able to tell me about her life and hear about mine. I would like this to become a reality for her by visiting her.
I hope you can help me organise this Mama Rafiki.
In love and light always
Jataia

simplicity in life

Jataia,

I have been struck by the outpouring of heart in the Rafiki members. Again and again I read of members thrilled to connect. Did you read the post by Mama Africa about Araceli's visit to her Rafiki- it's a must read for you!

I am so interested to hear about your plans- keep us posted.

Friendship, literacy, connection- across the globe between 2 women. Simple and profound.

Glad to read your post!
Warmly,

Laura

You are very much welcome

Dear Jataia

Thank you so much for your post. We have accomodation and boarding in our mission houses where you can stay while you meet your rafiki. so you do not need to worry about where to stay. The women and girls do all the cooking and washing and you can join them in this as well as it helps you to connect with them. Sister Araceli was the first to go to lungalunga and will probably shed some light when she shares of her experience once she is back, Candychris has also been to kakamega and spent time in the mission house and in the adult education classes. kindly contact candychris she has wonderful photos she can share

Otherwise I think it will be lovely to organise the Rafiki Tour so taht we can all go to kenya sometime nad meet with our rafikis I will keep you posted on this. My warmest regards to mama. i am glad she joined rafiki

thank you for the new name

Dear Jataia

Thank you again for the new name mama Rafiki. it sound so good and would love to be called that.

You know in Africa particularly in Kenya women are called by their children's names for instance if my daughter is Jataia then am called mama Jataia, also women are called by their husband's names if my husband is john then a i may be called mama john meaning mrs john. lastly are also called by their first names e.g damaris may be mama Damaris.

So I take mama Rafiki with love because this new baby vision is growing so well and am proud that for bringing it forth

Thank you

Don´t hesitate - just go!

Dear Jataia,
I´d like to encourage you very much to visit your Rafiki. In april I was travelling though Kenya for 4 weeks and I also visited women of the Rafiki Club although I wasn´t a member then. I still feel a bit embarrassed when I think about all the friendliness and interest I met there.

It was easy to travel and to find friends in Kenya. Everybody was very helpful. Many women invited us to meet their family or community. It is an experience that can change your life and you will be able to make friends for good. Don´t wait!

If you have any questions don´t hesitate to ask me. I also posted a short journal entry.

Thank you!

Thank you to all the wonderful ladies that have commented in regards to me visiting my Rafikis in Kenya. I am really exciting about going although it will have to wait just a little while.
I am about to go to Alice Springs (in Australia) to do a Colour and Sound healing course which is something that I am very interested in. I am an artist so I use colour in my paintings.
I feel this will also help me when I travel there as I can do healings.
I am hoping that maybe a trip will be organised between now and then for a few of us to go :)
I am open to whatever the universe presents to me for the highest good of all.
Thanks again for all of the advise and support.
In love and light always
Jataia
