Water and the Millenium Development Goals

It is interesting that while none of the Millenium Development Goals (MDGs) explicitly mention water and its impact on development, water plays a critical role in the achievement of all the 8 MDG goals.

Recently an assessment was conducted to measure the degree to which the solution to water-related problems impacts positively on the achievement of the overall MDGs. It emerged that achieving one-third of the MDGs depends on solving issues related to water.

THE CHRISTIAN YOUTH OUTREACH-UGANDA EAST AFRICA

Christian Youth Outreach- Uganda welcomes short mid and long term volunteers. Volunteers that can make a change in the community and in our organization, dealing with arts and culture, women groups youth groups, environmental conservation, rural development programs, disadvantaged children, health education, human rights. Solidarity projects, teaching in primary and secondary schools.

The project also gives volunteers a chance to make important contributions to the community in teaching, construction, medical etc and to experience the country and its cultures

Work camps

Work camps are projects involving international volunteers getting linked to the Uganda Community projects.

Young people take part in short term exchanges organized Christian Youth Outreach and its partners .The people and projects that Young Volunteer groups are involved with very enormously. The most popular work is within children and young people, but they are many other projects that involve ex- offenders the homeless people, People with the disabilities, Older people, Fund raising and Animal care Agricultural projects, constructions, Environmental conservation, Functional Adult literacy, Women groups, Health education and solidarity projects from 1- 3 weeks volunteer project. It’s a free lab our young people provide to a given community, Otherwise it’s a cost if it is done out of voluntary spirit.

CYTR provide work camp project for young people to work with local communities and create greater awareness

CYTR works towards ensuring every young person has the opportunity to volunteer and make a positive difference in their community and beyond, through having the access to relevant Volunteers opportunities and receiving effective support. CYTR aims at promoting young peoples activeness and to make concerns of local people into consideration

Volunteering is a unique opportunity to young people.

- It increases their skill knowledge and abilities.

- To understand and appreciate the diversity of our society and work in partnership with communities for mutual benefit.

The people and projects that Young Volunteer groups are involved with very enormously. The most popular work is within children and young people, but they are many other projects that involve ex- offenders the homeless people, People with the disabilities, Older people, Fund raising and Animal care Agricultural projects, constructions, Environmental conservation, Functional Adult literacy, Women groups, Health education and solidarity projects.

Young people volunteer for a huge number of reasons.

- Through volunteering you be part reaching the millions in the un reached territories s of the world

- If you don't volunteer you will never expose your ability to other people and cultures

- Volunteering is a part time mission which comfort the heart of the distressed

- Holidays are special occasions take an extra meaning when shared with your foreign friends

- We volunteer because we receive training and become qualified to do a work. We return home as effective witness

- From wanting to make a difference

- To simply having fun and meet new people

- Reach out to those in need

- Learn skills and gain work experience

- Give back to the community

- Share your expertise

- Stay active and involved

- Make a different in the lives of others

- Expose your abilities and talent by trying new activities-

- However, Volunteers also gain extensive portfolio of skills and experience which can be crucial after graduation.

Developing and recognizing skills such as communication, management, problem solving, leadership and teamwork through volunteering not only develop key skills but also enhance employability.

Young volunteer's projects gives them a chance to make important contributions to community in teaching medical, construction etc and to experience the country and its cultures.
