Applause and Announcement from Jensine

Dear VOF Applicants,

A big applause for LUMA who has taken the lead in presenting an excellent writing topic for our community this week. Thank you LUMA – such Cameroonian creativity!! We at World Pulse are eager to continue to read YOUR powerful writing from the globe. So many of you told us you’d like to keep receiving writing topics – and build the dream even stronger. So let’s go!

When I founded World Pulse the dream was an infinite web of women’s voices connecting and weaving a new world.

It is happening, and you have brought this dream alive. Today, our community continues to grow on PulseWire from over 130 nations. Truthfully, however, a big heartbeat of our community started during the VOF application process. Each of YOU created this. Something special, something magic.

***ANNOUNCEMENT***Therefore, I’d like to bring some challenging questions to this group. Problems that we struggle with at World Pulse to create PulseWire to be the best it can be. We all believe that the wisdom is in the community. So we turn to you.

So don’t be surprised if I , and team members, bring some “hot topics” to this group from time to time, as we trust you all very much. Of course, in addition, as Ms. Elsie has explained, we will also have regular writing assignments to keep our writing juices flowing!

The party is just getting started! Who are we kidding? This is BEYOND an applicants group – and something MUCH MORE NOW! I think we are going to need a new name, don't you think? The VOF correspondents are walking hand in hand with all of our sisters in this group.

Stay tuned for a “HOT TOPIC.” Lets get all of our juices flowing with thoughtful writing and words of wisdom.

Dear Jensine,
My warm greetings. Thank you for the mail and encouragement. Really, I thought we needed a new name for this knowledge sharing and learning experience. I though so too because I foresee it as being a motivator for both some community and prospective community members.
Your second mail poses the issue of hot topic and space, I would suggest that as it is often said, Liliency is not weakness. So if World Pulse is mediating and creating space for both women and men to speak up, IT'S LILIENCY OF CREATING SPACE FOR ALL TO SPEAK may not be taken for granted. Therefore, this issue could be carved out aas a privacy policy for all members and would be ones such that, we all as a community know that world pulse is a place of non violence( moral, verbal,or written) against each other.
I also think, we could creat space for such a hot topic as a welcome essay. In that respect, when a new member subscribes, his/her first task is to write say a 300 sord essay telling us how they would react if some one else from the community would respond to their post rudely,on the other side, how they would react if someone else posted an irritating post and, finally how they would advice someone who posts arguementative posts.
From this, we could keep them responsible by explicitly stating the rule of non violent culture which World pulse holds in is space creation in their official welcome mail to the community.
Incase such behavior persists, I think discontinuing them after notice like you said would be the best option.
I do not think we should convert space to silences like what happens with focus group discussions when the dominant and powerfull keep insisting on their points, the powerless yet very resourceful and informative stay silent. I think our wonderful community is a place for all.
With warmest regards

Sure, we need a new name that will bind all of us together, We are expecting those Hot Topics,
That is what we are here for.I want to also thank and appreciate Luma and others who are working endlessly to make sure this community continues. I have started working on my week five assignment.

Thanks for keeping the fire burning
