Introducing myself and my journal

About Me:
Andrea lives in Brooklyn, New York and is a graduate student at Columbia University's School of International and Public Affairs. She is committed to the political, economic, and social equity and advancement of young women and has spent the last six years working with organizations committed to these goals. She is development consultant for World Pulse and is very excited to be a part of such an amazing community.

Andrea recently completed work on the Women Moving Millions campaign – a historic Initiative launched by Helen LaKelly Hunt and Swanee Hunt to encourage women donors to give at the $1M and above to women’s foundations. The campaign raised more than $180 million for women and girls around the world. Andrea is the co-founder and co-chair of the Supporting Women Artists Project (SWAP), a Brooklyn-based non-profit organization that provides free studio space to women artists in exchange for their mentoring public school students who do not have access to art education. She also sits on the board of the Third Wave Foundation.

A big welcome

Andrea, it is with joy that we welcome you to PulseWire. I have been reading about the Women Moving Millions campaign and applaud Helen LaKelly Hunt and Swanee Hunt for taking the initiative to rally women together to support women's foundations. I recently relocated to Portland from New York and seeing that you are a Brooklyn girl, brings back fond memories I have of the city. I love the idea of SWAP especially in these times of reduced arts funding and support in our schools.

If there is anything I can help you with or if you have any particular interests, please let me know and I will try to steer you in the right direction. Again, welcome and I know that you will find PulseWire to be engaging, inspiring and thought-provoking.
