TWO WOMEN: THE MOST INSPIRING MOVIE IN MY LIFE

two_women_.jpg

Dear Friend,

Today, First time I have decided to write something about a movie in my life.

This movie is a heart beating movie. I think women from all over the world need to watch this movie. This is a movie “Two Women” from Iran about the patriarchal society that restricts women to be independent. These two females have two different personalities. The main actress has a potential personality because she tries to find who she is? What she wants to be but she can’t because of the society. This movie is directed by Tahmineh Milan. It has English subtitles.

It forced me to think who I am and the importance of education. It also inspires me to be independent and the result of immature decision. Please have a look once.

Movie

Hello Sunita,

Thank you, I am a huge foreign movie fan as it teaches me more about other cultures and the world out there that I might not ever have the privilege to visit. Unlike most American Hollywood films, most are pretty educational in the culture.

This movie sounds amazing and I will add it to my list to watch soon. At first, I thought it was a movie that I recently watched called "Arranged" about the story of a Jewish and a Muslim girl and their friendship that develops from being two girls promised in an arranged marriage. Very, nice movie that portrays the difficulties of bridges (or lack of) we create between ourselves based on beliefs and culture, instead of embracing the differences and learning from each other. Which is what these two girls do. It's a lovely movie.

I am now saving your movie to my list to watch soon so that I can report back to you with a discussion in a couple of weeks. Thank you for sharing.

Kindest regards,
Theresa

Dear Theresa,
First of all, thank you so much for adding me. Nice to know that pearl is your middle name. I will call you Theresa from today. Sorry for calling you pearl. I love reading your comments.
Yes, you are right there are many movies, but only few foreign movies are really good. TWO WOMEN is among them. It's just my opinion. I might come with another conclusion after watching the movie. You can learn about culture, education, environment and many more from this movie. There is no connection with Jewish. It's about a struggle of a girl who wanted to graduate and be independent but couldn't because of society.

Glad to hear that you are interested to watch this movie. Please comment me how you feel after watching the movie.

Watched Two Women

What a powerful movie! I found it disturbing at times insofar as the freedoms we take for granted in the West are not granted to our sisters in other countries or cultures. But the strength of the female lead is inspiring, although I wonder if having an education would have changed her circumstances as her family were still very traditional. It requires great strength of character to go against one's family. I would love to hear what others think about the movie, especially as we are all from different backgrounds and I think will each view the film slightly differently.

Thanks for recommending it, Sunita.

Deareast Janice,
Namaskar
I am glad to hear that you like this movie and found it as a powerful movie. Yes, sometimes it happened even in our country Nepal. I think for some western people who take it as for granted will learn from this movie.

Yes, the last part of the movie touched my heart when she was searching a book how to grow up her children alone.

I also found this movie slightly different then other.
Thank you so much for spending your time in movie.
