The Blue Sweater: Bridging the Gap Between Rich and Poor in an Interconnected World
In her powerful new memoir, The Blue Sweater, Acumen Fund founder Jacqueline Novogratz reflects on her personal fight against global poverty and the future of sustainable philanthropy.
Part reflection of her early experiences leaving the world of corporate banking for development work, and part exploration of the politics that often confound poverty initiatives, Novogratz’s book makes a strong case for the empowerment of local entrepreneurs and offers timely investment advice for the spurring of new markets. Novogratz writes, “This book is for people who do not seek easy solutions or insist on a singular ideology for the world.”

Powerful and thought provoking
I have to say, I got to certain parts of this book that made me think, what is she talking about? How can charity not be helpful to people. But as I continued to read on, I understood the message and real-life examples of how empowerment is the key to helping people help themselves. It put a whole new perspective on my goals and visions for changing the way of the world.
I highly, highly recommend it.
