Women Deliver Conference 2010
By adopting the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), the world’s leaders have made some powerful promises. The Women Deliver conference will bring together experts and creative thinkers to help world leaders uphold their promises to women, such as the promise to cut maternal mortality in half by 2015.
Women Deliver 2010 is based on the belief that women are at the economic heart of the developing world. The theme of the conference is “Delivering Solutions for Girls and Women.” Topics will include maternal health, HIV/AIDS, health systems, climate change, youth, violence against women, women in conflict, family planning, and reproductive health, along with a number of other important global issues affecting women.
The conference is timed to send a strong message to key meetings where world leaders meet and decide, such as the G8 Summit and United Nations General Assembly on MDGs.
The conference will further prove that maternal and reproductive health needs to be a global priority.
Scholarships are available for attending the conference but all applications must be received by December 15, 2009.
You have the opportunity to make Women Deliver a vibrant demonstration of how health, gender equality, and development are inextricably linked.
