UN Women Launch Event

UN Women, the newest organization in the UN is poised to give women a greater voice within the UN system and in the world. The new agency unites four previous UN bodies and represents the United Nations’ most ambitious effort to accelerate actions to achieve gender equality. UN Women opened its doors in January and is celebrating its launch on February 24, 2011.

The event, hosted by UN Women executive director Michelle Bachelet and emceed by ABC News anchor Christiane Amanpour, and featuring guest appearances from distinguished speakers and performers, will be broadcast via live webcast beginning at 6:30 pm EST.
