Partners In Health Thomas J. White Symposium
Healthcare is a hot topic in the US right now, but health has been a pressing global issue for a long time—particularly in the poorest regions of the world. HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, infant mortality, and other global health issues, pose an urgent and daunting challenge. It’s a challenge that deserves the brightest minds, the best research, and ample funding.
Partners In Health’s (PIH) mission is to stand in solidarity with impoverished communities and to advance global health. With their annual Thomas J White Symposium they have succeeded in bringing together “the brightest minds” in the global health field. This year’s theme is “Accompaniment: Solidarity in Action” and will feature New York Times columnist and Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Nicholas Kristof, PIH co-founders Paul Farmer and Ophelia Dahl, as well as speakers from PIH partner projects from around the world.
Best of all, the symposium will feature a live webcast so that those of us who can’t travel to Massachusetts can still participate.
The webcast will air on the PIH website at 3 pm on October 3rd at http://www.pih.org/inforesources/news/Symposium_2009.html
