Asia Pacific Breakthrough
The Women, Faith and Development Summit to End Global Poverty
Faith communities and the development community have many overlapping interests—including the emerging global momentum to bring resources together to invest in women and girls. However, while faith communities have long been involved in efforts to support women and to end poverty, they have typically worked independently of development organizations.
A new group, emerging out of the Asia Pacific region, is coming together across different backgrounds to change this. By attending this breakthrough conference, you can help launch a new alliance, explore opportunities for new partnerships and collaborations, and help catalyze an Asia Pacific-wide movement. In this inaugural summit, women's organizations, faith communities and development agencies will come together in the common call to eliminate poverty, and the feminization of poverty, by empowering women and girls.
Confirmed speakers include Sister Joan Chittister OSB of Benetvision and the Global Peace Initiative for Women, Nyaradzayi Gumbonzvanda-General Secretary of the YWCA, and The Hon. Dame Carol Kidu CBE, MP - Minister for Community Development & Religion & Sports, Papua New Guinea.
