World Pulse Welcomes New Board Chair and Members
World Pulse, a leading media network powered by women from 190 countries, is pleased to announce the selection of a new board chair and new members to the board of directors.
“It is an honor to step in to the role of Board Chair at a time when World Pulse is moving from start up to major player in the women’s digital empowerment movement,” Ellen Wingard, who took her seat as Board Chair this January, said. She has spent the last 30 years advising private and public sector CEOS, entrepreneurs, and emerging leaders in awakening socially responsible leadership.
“I am privileged to share board responsibilities with an outstanding circle of professional women spanning industry and the public sector. While each World Pulse board member brings diverse perspectives and accomplishments, we are united in our passion for impact.”
Wingard joins a committed board of 12, ranging from media producers, CEOs in direct community services, human rights attorneys, corporate leaders, financial wealth advisors, and technology experts. Each brings her own lens to World Pulse, an organization that is rapidly becoming the communication backbone for the global women’s empowerment movement by connecting the leadership of grassroots women and their organizations through digital technology.
Board member Susan Kenniston, a prominent business IT professional with over 20 years of hands-on experience, is excited by World Pulse’s commitment to bringing access to technology to women across the globe.
“At World Pulse, I am able to, in a very practical way, change the lives of grassroots women and the communities around them,” she said. “Simply, it is about helping women get ACCESS to technology. Guiding them in becoming DIGITALLY LITERATE. Furthering them with EDUCATION opportunities. Building their confidence to share STORIES. Encouraging them to SUPPORT each other. And through all of this, it is about welcoming and growing the COMMUNITY of support.”
World Pulse is also pleased to announce that community member and World Pulse correspondent Stella Paul of India has also taken her seat on the board.
“There are millions of women in our world without a voice,” Paul said. “And then, there are several millions who are not heard. World Pulse is a confluence where the voiceless and the unheard come together to build an army of change agents. Joining the board of World Pulse gives me a great opportunity to stand by, laud, promote and add strength to this formidable force of women that is going to reshape our world, for the better."
Additional World Pulse board members include Jensine Larsen, World Pulse CEO; Andrea Meditch, Filmmaker and Media Executive; Natasha Ora Lycia Bannan, Legal Fellow at the Center for Reproductive Rights; Jessica Robinson, corporate executive at Target and recent fellow of the Impact Center; Kim Anderson, CEO of Families First, Atlanta’s oldest family services agency; Zulma Miranda Ortiz, human rights attorney; Kate Byrne, Marketing Officer and former Fast Company executive; Marisa Rivera, president of Mpowerment Works; Geri Pell, President of Pell Wealth Partners; and World Pulse community member Halima Mohamad Abdel of Sudan.
Wingard is excited to partner with the above-mentioned board, the World Pulse Staff, and World Pulse’s network of partners and supporters to bring World Pulse to the next stage of its growth.
“I believe World Pulse offers the most immediate forum for accelerating the impact of women grassroots leaders to bring their own solutions to intractable global issues,” she said. “In our digital age, this form of leadership is unprecedented.”
